That the teenagers who recorded "The Third Of The Storm" and "Triumph Of Death" for the HELLHAMMER EP would, despite constant turmoil, be recording the jaw-dropping "Rex Irae" just three years later is astonishing. There’s definitely a more atmospheric and experimental sound as the tracks progress, perhaps heading towards the sound that Fischer and Ain envisioned when they first sat down to plot Celtic Frost’s future one night in 1984. Also included is a double-sided A2 poster, a ‘Necromaniac Union’ fan club enamel badge, a Danse Macabre sew-on woven patch, and a ‘Heptagram’ figurine USB drive containing MP3 audio of all the albums, including bonus tracks (vinyl release only).

Although legendary Swiss metal band Celtic Frost disbanded in 2008, a new expansive vinyl box set entitled Danse Macabre will see the light of day on November 25th, 2022. We all feel as long as it’s done the right way, as long as we don’t go on a tour and bill it as a reunion or something. s Into The Pandemonium is a branch out for the band, more Avant Garde, taking in classic rock, symphonic metal and lyrics from classical sources (Bronte poems and Apollo samples, for example).

Interestingly it features two songs which were already on Morbid Tales, at least on the US version included in this package. What you are referring to is… there’s some rehearsal recordings from the time when we wrote and rehearsed Morbid Tales before we went into the studio to actually record it in the summer of 1984. By comparison, other forms of rock in the mid-80s, such as indie and jangle pop, stood meekly on a continuum with rock’s past, no matter how much its main players decried the dinosaurs of yore.

Extreme metal band Celtic Frost, lead by guitarist Thomas Gabriel Fisher (aka Thomas G Warrior), were formed in the early 80s from the ashes of Hellhammer. The release here has most (but I don’t think all) of the various edition tracks, and the intro is damn scary (think horror film) before the trash comes in.Danse Macabre" captures the radical ambition and evolution of CELTIC FROST from 1984 through to 1987. From the very beginning, Triptykon when we play live, it’s always 50/50; 50% Triptykon music/50% from the Celtic Frost catalog. We just finished the last concert for this year with Triptykon, and the next few months we will dedicate to finalizing some of the music.
