The power doesn't deplete when in use, but you will notice the battery indicator light blinking for a minute-or-so before it cuts out. This is useful because it gives you just enough time to run down the stairs to find that spare battery, which you will need when vacuuming a three-bed house from top to bottom.

Self-standing feature: My favorite configuration is the upright mode, where it can stand on its own.

Staying true to its roots, the Triflex utilizes a wide nozzle at around eleven inches – more than an inch broader than other brands. Miele utilizes a VART Li-ion battery rated at 2500 milliamps with a claimed run time of 60 minutes. The overall score is skewed by its poor performance vacuuming quaker oats. Otherwise, it would have been a higher average. Surprisingly, it was better with shorter five and seven-inch strands but struggled with nine-inch hair. IIn the before and after shots above, you can see, you can see that the passes were clean, and there wasn’t any visible debris left. Deep cleaning results

We test each cordless vacuum multiple times on carpet, laminate and floorboards. To assess performance, we cover each surface with dust and calculate the percentage the vacuum removes. We repeat this process with an assortment of debris, including biscuit crumbs and pet-hair. All of these tests are repeated again in handheld mode. Both modes are then tested in a variety of other cleaning scenarios, such as on stairs or in a car. To test design, we investigate each product’s specifications. This includes testing the battery’s maximum run-time and assessing how easy it is to use. So when I saw this product, I was a bit surprised, but with the growing interest in cordless vacuums, it shouldn’t come as such.Founded in 1899, Miele is one of the world's leading manufacturers of premium domestic appliances including cookers and ovens, refrigeration products, coffee makers, dishwashers and laundry and floor-care products. The brand launched its first ever cordless vacuum cleaner in February 2020, which set the benchmark for the Triflex HX2 range that has followed. Aside from the increase in power, there's a 0.4kg weight difference - the Triflex HX2 being the lighter of the two - and variations in the attachments that come with the two Miele vacuum cleaner ranges. Being a Miele brand, there won’t’ be an issue with parts availability, at least for stuff like the filter or battery.

It actually got a higher average at the middle setting versus the max setting (92.65%), which is a head-scratcher for me, but regardless, it’s decent for this purpose. Deep cleans well: One surprise doing the tests is how well this product cleans embedded sand in the middle setting. Even with the upright configuration, the Triflex’s dirt volume is below average at only 0.5 liters. It won’t hold much dirt, but I like its placement as an upright – another reason why I prefer using it in this configuration. I would not recommend this for cleaning long strands, but it would suffice for shorter strands. Edge cleaning Aside from its struggles with quaker oats, it did well with other types of debris like coffee grounds, sand, and quinoa. The Miele Triflex HX2 Pro is a premium vacuum cleaner that commands a premium price tag, and isn't available in the US or Australia. It is, however, built to last. In my opinion, the unsealed result is the most accurate since it has the least number of variables and represents the working suction of a vacuum.

For people who are familiar with vacuum cleaners, Miele is a known brand, particularly with bagged canister vacuums. While the handle placement is ideal for cleaning floors, it isn’t in handheld mode since you’ll have to carry most of the weight.

Note that the vacuum's 0.5-litre dust container is small. Our upstairs wool carpets are relatively new, so we found that we were having to empty the container at least once between vacuuming that floor and the stairs and ground floor. The dust container also proved a little fiddly to empty; you need to remove the dust canister from the main unit and then twist open the lid to remove the filter and dirt. This is confirmed in the cleaning results (up next), where the Triflex had nearly identical deep cleaning results in the mid and max setting.
